The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
