The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in the state of California at the age of 55.

The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The influential industry figure died after his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in the Los Angeles area on this past Sunday, according to.
