Details of the Serious Charges The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021. One senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.” Scope of the Investigation The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital. The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January. Breakdown of Offences Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise: Fifteen counts of sexual assault. Seventeen counts of assault by penetration. Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13. 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
